How to identify common indoor and outdoor model generations and their approximate sales eras
Important: A model prefix is an identification guide, not an exact manufacturing date. Product ranges overlapped, stock could remain available after a replacement range launched, and Australia and New Zealand did not always change models at the same time. Always confirm the complete model and serial number before selecting parts, manuals or technical data.
Quick rule: The broad outdoor-unit progression is AOT → AOTA / AOTB / AOTC → AOTG → AOTH. The letters after the capacity number are normally more useful for identifying the exact platform, refrigerant and matched indoor unit.

Confidence note: AOTG and AOTH ranges can be supported comparatively well from product documentation and registrations. AOTA, AOTB and AOTC dates should be treated as broad service-era estimates because there was no universal cutover across all product categories.

Do not apply one universal suffix formula. The meaning of individual suffix positions changes between wall-mounted, multi, ducted, cassette and commercial product families.

Capacity-number guide

Numbers such as 09, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 45 and 54 are nominal capacity classes derived from older BTU/h conventions. They are not the exact rated output in kW. A “24” class system is generally around the 7 kW class, but the actual rated output varies by model.

5. Australia and New Zealand considerations

1The same core model may be sold in both countries, but launch dates and stock run-out periods can differ.
2A joint Australia/New Zealand registration does not prove an identical retail launch date.
3New Zealand may retain particular heating-focused models or variants longer than Australia.

6. Correct identification workflow

1Record the complete indoor model, outdoor model and serial number from the rating labels.
2Confirm the product type: single split, multi, ducted, cassette, floor/ceiling or commercial system.
3Check the approved indoor/outdoor matched combination.
4Confirm the refrigerant from the rating label. Never infer refrigerant solely from AOTG or AOTH.
5Search the complete model number in General Assist or the applicable product-manual system.
6Before ordering parts, confirm the exact production revision and any serial-number break.
Warranty warning: Do not use the estimated model era to approve or decline warranty. Warranty eligibility must be assessed using proof of purchase, installation date, serial information and the applicable warranty terms.
Reference basis: These ranges are deliberately approximate and are intended for service identification. They reflect historical technical manuals, product catalogues and Australian/New Zealand product registrations. There is no single published Fujitsu General table assigning one universal start and finish date to every AOT-prefix generation across all product categories.
