1. Overview

The ‘Fresh Air’ feature within the AnywAiR Ducted Controller interface can be manually enabled through the system setup screens, although it is disabled by default.
This function is designed to introduce fresh, external air into the conditioned space, supplementing standard recirculated air operation.

However, while the feature is technically present in the controller’s firmware, it is not intended for general activation or domestic use due to the complexity of its requirements.

2. Technical Advisory

⚠️ Important Notice:
The Fresh Air function is not supported by Fujitsu General’s technical or customer service teams.
This feature should not be configured, promoted, or commissioned in the field except under the supervision of a qualified HVAC design engineer.

Activating the feature without a compliant system design can result in:

  • Pressure imbalance or duct leakage.

  • Energy inefficiency or overloading of the indoor fan system.

  • Poor indoor air quality outcomes if improperly balanced.

  • Unintended operational faults or service call-backs.

3. Unsupported Components and System Dependencies

The Fresh Air mode requires third-party hardware integration, which falls outside the scope of Fujitsu General’s technical support and warranty coverage.
Such components typically include:

  • Roof-mounted cowls – for external air intake.

  • Return air damper systems (e.g., Exact Air kits) – for modulating or isolating the fresh air path.

  • Custom-designed ceiling return air intakes – to manage airflow distribution and filtration.

Each of these components requires specific design calculations and commissioning to ensure safe and effective operation.

4. Suitability and Risk Assessment

This feature is unsuitable for domestic and light-commercial applications due to the high degree of system customization required.
Implementing fresh air intake systems without proper airflow balancing and control logic can cause:

  • System strain or equipment failure.

  • Condensation and humidity issues.

  • Non-compliance with manufacturer operating parameters.

As such, activation of this feature is strongly discouraged in standard residential installations.

5. Future Product Direction

The next-generation AnywAiR controllers will no longer include or display the Fresh Air feature.
This decision reflects Fujitsu General’s position to ensure reliability, simplify system commissioning, and avoid unintended configuration errors.

Field teams and resellers should:

  • Advise customers that this feature is not supported.

  • Avoid activating or referencing the Fresh Air option during setup.

  • Reassure end users that this does not affect core comfort, zoning, or efficiency functions.
