Fahrenheit (°F) / Celsius (°C) Configuration Guide

UTY-RNNYN wired remote controller and Simple Remote Controller
Changing the temperature display unit using the controller DIP switches
This guide explains how to change the displayed temperature unit between degrees Celsius and degrees Fahrenheit on compatible General wired controllers.
Important: Isolate power to the indoor unit before removing the controller cover or changing any DIP switch. Only adjust the switch identified for temperature-unit selection.

2. UTY-RNNYN wired remote controller

Temperature-unit switch: DIP Switch 1, SW4
OFF: Celsius (°C)
ON: Fahrenheit (°F)

Procedure

  1. Turn off power to the indoor unit and confirm the controller display is off.
  2. Remove the controller front case in accordance with the installation instructions.
  3. Locate DIP Switch 1 on the back side of the controller front case.
  4. Set SW4to the required position:
    • OFF for °C.
    • ON for °F.
  5. Do not change the remaining switches unless required by the installation instructions.
  6. Reassemble the controller and restore power.
  7. Confirm the displayed temperature unit has changed.

Note: DIP Switch 2 is not used for this temperature-unit change and should remain at its existing configuration.

3. Simple Remote Controller

Temperature-unit switch: DIP Switch 1, SW3
OFF: Celsius (°C), factory default
ON: Fahrenheit (°F)

Procedure

  1. Turn off power to the indoor unit.
  2. Remove the controller front cover and locate the internal DIP switch panel.
  3. Locate DIP Switch 1, SW3.
  4. Set SW3 to the required position:
    • OFF for °C.
    • ON for °F.
  5. Leave all other switches at their current or factory settings unless the installation requires otherwise.
  6. Reassemble the controller and restore power.
  7. Verify the display is showing the selected unit.

4. Verification and troubleshooting

  • Confirm the controller was fully powered down before changing the switch.
  • Check that the correct DIP bank and switch number were used for the controller model.
  • Ensure the switch is fully seated in the ON or OFF position.
  • Restore power and allow the controller to complete its normal start-up sequence.
  • If the unit does not change, isolate power again and recheck the switch position.
  • If the display remains incorrect, confirm the exact controller model and refer to its installation manual before changing any additional settings.
Do not adjust prohibited switches. Incorrect DIP-switch settings can affect controller addressing, memory backup or dual-controller operation.
