Overview

When configuring the Zone Control Interface (ZCI) with the UTY-CDRXZC or UTY-CDRXZD controllers, specific function settings must be programmed before the Zone Initial Setting.
These settings activate the use of internal and external temperature sensors—including those built into the wall controllers and optional remote sensors.

1. Required Function Settings

Zone Controller Settings

To enable internal (wired remote) and optional remote temperature sensors:

Function No.SettingPurpose
701Enables Primary Controller Sensor (main wall controller)
801Enables Secondary Controller Sensor (secondary wall controller)
31–3801Enables Optional Remote Sensors 1–8

Each optional sensor (up to 8) is enabled individually using function numbers 31–38.
For example, set 31:01 for Sensor 1, 32:01 for Sensor 2, etc.
(See page 4 diagram in the manual for mapping

Indoor Unit Function Settings

To ensure the indoor unit can switch between onboard and remote sensors:

Function No.SettingDescription
4201Enables Room Temperature Sensor Switching (sets to “Both”)

This allows temperature control input from both the indoor unit and any active remote sensor connected through the Zone Controller.

2. Setting Procedure

Step 1 – Enter Maintenance Mode

  1. On the wired remote controller, go to Menu → Maintenance.

  2. Navigate through Next Page until Zone Function Setting is displayed.

  3. Select Zone Function Setting.

(Illustrated on pages 10–12 of the document with touchscreen navigation sequence

.)

Step 2 – Configure Zone Functions

  1. Select Function No. 07, then Setting No. 01, and confirm with OK (Primary WRC sensor).

  2. Select Function No. 08, then Setting No. 01, and confirm with OK (Secondary WRC sensor).

  3. For each optional sensor, repeat the process using Function Nos. 31–38, setting each to 01 as required.

Step 3 – Configure Indoor Unit

  1. Return to Function Setting (Indoor Unit menu).

  2. Select Function No. 42 and set Setting No. 01, then confirm with OK.

This links the indoor unit’s temperature control logic to both the wired and optional remote sensors.

3. Verification

To confirm the sensors are active:

  1. Touch [Zone][Priority Sensor] on the wired controller.

  2. The list of active sensors will appear on-screen.

Sensor NumberDescription
1Indoor Unit
2Primary WRC
3Secondary WRC
4–11Optional Sensors 1–8

(Reference visual: Page 7 of the document clearly shows the on-screen layout for checking sensor activation

4. Example Configuration

When using both a wired remote controller (WRC) and one optional sensor:

FunctionNo.SettingNotes
Primary WRC Sensor701Enabled
Optional Sensor 13101Enabled
Indoor Unit Sensor Mode4201Both

This configuration allows the system to use either the WRC or the remote sensor for room temperature feedback and control.

Important Notes

  • All function settings must be performed before Zone Initialisation.

  • The indoor unit will always retain its internal sensor as a fail-safe in case other sensors become unavailable.

  • Ensure wiring and sensor addresses are correctly configured prior to function programming.

  • If using multiple sensors, clearly identify which zones each is assigned to within the controller interface.
