Wall-Mounted Split Installation Guide

For approved AOTG09KMTC / AOTG12KMTC R32 outdoor units
R32 flammable refrigerant: Installation, pressure testing, evacuation, charging and service work must be completed by qualified personnel using R32/R410A-rated tools and materials. Remove ignition sources, ventilate the area and use an R32-compatible leak detector.
Room-size requirement: Where total refrigerant charge exceeds 1.22 kg, verify that the installation room meets the minimum floor-area requirements stated in the indoor installation manual.

Human sensor: Keep furniture, heating appliances and other large objects outside the sensor detection area. The approximate detection range is 6 m, 90° vertically and 100° horizontally.

Six piping directions

1Select a level, vibration-free wall with unrestricted airflow and easy drain access.
2Secure the wall-hook bracket level using at least five fixing screws.
3Cut a 65 mm wall hole with the outside edge 5–10 mm lower than the inside edge.
4Fit a wall pipe and wall cap so wiring cannot contact raw metal.
5For left-side piping, interchange the drain hose and drain cap and refit the retaining screw.
6Keep the drain hose below the refrigerant pipes and maintain continuous fall.
7Engage the upper bracket rail first, then push the lower fittings onto the bottom hooks.
Drainage: The drain hose must slope continuously downward. Do not create lifts, waves or submerged ends. Apply freeze protection where the drain may be exposed below 0°C.

  • Mount on a base at least 50 mm wide using four M10 anchor bolts.
  • Anchor-bolt projection should be approximately 20 mm.
  • Do not tilt the outdoor unit more than 3° and never tilt toward the compressor side.
  • Do not install directly on the ground.
  • Provide drainage and allow room for ice build-up in cold climates.
  • Do not stack units where drainage from the upper unit can freeze onto the lower unit.

Use R32/R410A flare tools. Keep bend radius at 70 mm or greater and do not repeatedly bend the same pipe section more than three times. Use alkylbenzene oil on the outdoor flare surface; do not use mineral oil.

6. Nitrogen sealing test

Dry nitrogen only: Never use oxygen, compressed air, refrigerant or flammable gas for the sealing test.
1Confirm both service valves are closed and power is isolated.
2Add nitrogen to both liquid and gas pipes.
3Pressurise to 4.15 MPa.
4Check all flare connections and any brazed joints.
5Allow the system to stand for 24 hours and confirm pressure has not fallen.
6Allow for ambient-temperature change: a 5°C change alters test pressure by approximately 0.05 MPa.
7Release nitrogen slowly after the test is complete.

7. Vacuum and additional charging

1Connect a clean R32/R410A manifold and vacuum pump to the charging port.
2Evacuate to -0.1 MPa or -76 cmHg.
3Continue evacuation for at least 15 minutes after reaching target vacuum.
4Disconnect hoses and tighten the charging-port cap.
5Fully open both service-valve spindles using a 4 mm hex key at 6–7 N·m.
6For pipework above 15 m, charge liquid R32 by electronic scale at 20 g/m.

8. Electrical wiring

Match terminals 1, 2 and 3 between indoor and outdoor units. Connect protective earth and clamp all cables by the outer sheath.

  • Use a dedicated power circuit and harmonic-compatible earth-leakage breaker.
  • Do not install a power-factor correction capacitor.
  • Do not use crossover power wiring.
  • Keep the demand-control cable away from mains and interconnection wiring.
  • Wait at least 10 minutes after isolating the outdoor unit before touching electrical components.

Complete all required function settings before final commissioning. After changing function settings, isolate power, wait at least 30 seconds and restore power before testing.

10. Test run and handover

Hold the indoor-unit MANUAL AUTO button for more than 10 seconds to start forced cooling. The OPERATION and TIMER lamps flash together. Use START/STOP on the remote controller to stop the test.
