Wall-Mounted Split Installation Guide

ASTG09KMCA / ASTG12KMCA indoor units
For use with the approved AOTG KMCA R32 outdoor-unit family
R32 flammable refrigerant: Installation, evacuation, charging and service work must be completed by qualified personnel using R32/R410A-rated tools and materials. Eliminate ignition sources, ventilate the work area and use an R32-compatible leak detector.
Important matched-system requirement: Confirm the exact indoor and outdoor model numbers before installation. Do not connect the indoor unit to an unapproved or non-R32 outdoor unit.

Short pipework: Pipe runs shorter than 3 m may transfer outdoor-unit sound to the indoor unit and can create higher perceived operating noise.

Installation sequence

1Select a strong, level wall with unrestricted inlet and outlet airflow and suitable drainage access.
2Install the wall-hook bracket horizontally and vertically level using at least five suitable fixing screws.
3Cut a 65 mm wall hole with the outside edge 5–10 mm lower than the inside edge.
4Fit a wall pipe and wall cap. Never allow the interconnection cable to contact the raw metal edge of the wall opening.
5Route rear, right or bottom piping. Keep the drain hose below the refrigerant pipes.
6Hook the indoor unit onto the upper bracket hooks, then press the lower section firmly onto both lower hooks.
Drainage: The drain hose must continuously fall to the outside. Do not lift the hose, create waves or leave its end submerged in water. Confirm drainage during commissioning.

  • Mount on a strong, level stand and secure against vibration and strong wind.
  • Do not install directly on the ground.
  • Leave at least three of the four horizontal directions open where possible.
  • Keep away from flammable gas, heat sources, heavy dust, corrosive atmospheres and locations where discharge air or noise will disturb neighbours.
  • In freezing conditions, do not use the outdoor drain pipe and drain caps where ice blockage may occur.

4. Refrigerant piping and evacuation

Flare connection: Centre the flare correctly, initially tighten by hand and finish with two spanners and a calibrated torque wrench. Do not perform the indoor flare connection inside the occupied room.

Vacuum procedure

1Confirm both service valves are fully closed and connect the gauge manifold to the 3-way valve charging port.
2Open the low-pressure manifold valve and operate an R32/R410A-compatible vacuum pump.
3Evacuate for at least 15 minutes and confirm -0.1 MPa (-1 bar / -76 cmHg).
4Close the low-pressure manifold valve and stop the vacuum pump.
5Briefly crack the 3-way valve until pressure rises to approximately 0.1–0.2 MPa, then disconnect the charging hose.
6Fully open the 2-way and 3-way valve stems and tighten all caps.
7Leak-test every flare and service-valve connection with an R32-compatible detector.

5. Electrical wiring

Indoor-to-outdoor connection: Match terminal numbers 1, 2 and 3 at both units and connect protective earth. Incorrect terminal matching may damage the equipment or create a fire risk.

  • Use insulated ring or crimp terminals and tighten to the specified torque.
  • Clamp the cable by its outer sheath, not the individual conductor insulation.
  • Keep the demand-control signal cable separated from mains wiring.
  • Confirm continuity of protective earth.
  • Isolate power before removing covers or disconnecting any wiring.

6. Test run and commissioning

Forced cooling test: Press and hold the indoor-unit MANUAL AUTO button for more than 10 seconds. The OPERATION and TIMER indicators flash together. End the test using START/STOP on the remote controller.

7. Function settings

Enter function-setting mode: While holding POWERFUL and TEMP ▲, press the recessed RESET button. Select the function number and setting value, press MODE to transmit, then START/STOP to save.
After completing function settings, turn power off, wait at least 30 seconds, then restore power. The setting does not become active until the unit is power-cycled.
