Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for safely removing and reinstalling the fan motor and fan barrel from Fujitsu General KMTC indoor wall-mounted units.
It is intended for trained service technicians performing internal component replacements or cleaning procedures

⚠️ Safety Precautions

  • Disconnect power at the isolator before commencing any work.

  • Avoid bending or damaging refrigerant piping or electrical harnesses.

  • Handle coil and fan components carefully to prevent deformation or noise issues during reassembly.


1. Remove Intake Grille

  1. Open the intake grille fully.

  2. While pressing the left and right mounting shafts outward, pull the grille gently to remove it

2. Remove Filters and Front Panel Screws

  1. Remove both air filters by lifting and disconnecting lower hooks.

  2. Remove 5 screws securing the front panel and electrical cover (refer to image on page 3 of source file).
    These screws are located at the top corners and near the electrical cover housing

3. Remove Front Panel and Electrical Cover

  • Undo the screw covers and remove two screws at the bottom of the front panel.

  • Gently pull the front panel clips outwards to release.

  • Detach the control cover and disconnect the electrical harnesses as shown in the diagrams on page 4

4. Detach Evaporator and Electrical Assemblies

  • Remove two screws securing the left-hand side of the evaporator assembly to the base tray.

  • Remove one screw holding the electrical assembly in place.
    These are shown on page 5 with red indicators

5. Disconnect Sensors and Wiring

  1. Unclip the USB assembly from the main frame.

  2. Remove the room thermistor and cage from the coil.

  3. Remove the pipe sensor from its holder.

  4. Cut the cable tie to release sensor wires and disconnect the earthing cable

6. Disconnect Fan and Stepper Motors

  • Unplug fan motor and stepper motor(s) from the main control PCB.

  • Remove the electrical box from the base assembly

7. Remove Drain Pan

  1. Remove the screw and unclip the cable guide to release the right-hand side of the drain pan.

  2. Unclip both sides of the drain pan and pull downward to remove completely

8. Remove Fan Motor Assembly

  • Remove three screws securing the fan motor assembly:

    • Two at the bottom

    • One at the top (see image on page 10)

9. Separate Fan Barrel

  • Loosen the grub screw on the right-hand side of the fan barrel to release it from the motor shaft.

  • During reassembly, ensure the fan barrel is centered to avoid rubbing against the housing

10. Remove Fan Barrel and Motor

  1. Lift the left-hand side of the coil slightly and slide the fan barrel out.

  2. Pull the fan motor and housing from the head.

  3. Unclip the two tabs to separate the housing.

  4. Remove the fan motor from the housing

11. Reassembly

  • Refit the components by reversing the removal procedure.

  • Confirm all sensors, grounds, and connectors are reattached securely.

  • Verify free fan rotation before powering on.

  • Ensure grub screw alignment and motor centering to prevent operational noise.


✅ Final Checks

  • Confirm smooth fan operation and no vibration or contact noises.

  • Run the unit in test mode to validate airflow and correct operation.

  • Reinstall all covers, filters, and the intake grille securely.
